Have a fantastic time!! I love D.C. It is so iconic that when I am there it is so hard for me to understand it is real. My favorite things in D.C.:
All the free museums and the Salty Oatmeal cookies at Teaism. I hope and pray you go there and please try the cookies!!!!

I haven't been to DC in a couple of decades, but loved all of the fabulous museums on the mall. Also the Senate cafeteria, where you can get a very inexpensive lunch!
